A recap of what we did to lead up to Christmas and what we did during the Christmas Break.
Movies:
-Polar Express
-Mickey's Twice Upon a Christmas
-How the Grinch Stole Christmas
-A Christmas Carol
-The Nativity
-The Santa Clause
-Home Alone
-Miracle on 34th Street
-It's a Wonderful Life
Treats:
-Fudge
-Sugar Cookies
-Peppermint Popcorn (didn't turn out right)
-Hot Tamale Apple Cider (thanks DeAnne Christofferson for the idea!)
-Sweet Christmas Roll
-All the yummy treats that wonderful friends and neighbors brought to us
Activities
-Bri acted out the Nativity with her joy school group. She made a very cute wise man
-Annaleise had her Christmas Choir concert. I was so impressed with the choir as a whole and proud of Annaleise for all the hard work she put in to learn and memorize the songs. She did great!
-Annette Shiley had a party at her house for the kiddos. They made luminaries, gingerbread houses and played together. We learned about Christmases and traditions around the world.
-School parties, primary class parties, more school parties, parties, parties! The kids were partied out by the 21st of December. At one point when Eric found out he had another party he burst into tears and cried about "no more parties!"
Special:
-Pedro took a week off of work. We had zero plans to go anywhere, had nobody coming so we were able to relax. We slept in. We played games all day and watched movies. The kids had so much fun daddy time. It was wonderful to have him home!
Christmas Eve:
-Our big dinner feast! However, Eric ended up going to bed at 6pm so he missed out. Bri wasn't very interested in the food so it was just Pedro, Annaleise and myself. Ah, well. Someday.
-Leise was good and went to bed at a decent hour, 8:30 or 9:00.
-Bri is our little night owl so she didn't go down until 10:30.
-The kids set out cookies and eggnog and Eric ran back to the fridge to grab a carrot for the reindeer. They wrote a note letting Santa know it was for him.
-Pedro and I played Santa. Not too bad this year because we had already wrapped everything! We started at 11pm and were in bed at midnight.
Christmas Day:
-Kids were up at 7am. We opened stockings and gifts. Everybody was happy and excited to see their new goodies.
-We read Luke 2 and talked about the birth of Christ and what kind of gifts we can give him. Eric went to his toybox and found something he wanted to share with baby Jesus. So we explained again what kinds of gifts we can give to our Heavenly Father. Not sure if he gets it yet. Someday.
-We played! And ate yummy french toast. And munched on goodies throughout the day.
The rest of Christmas Break:
-We played!
-And watched movies!
-And slept in!
-And when it snowed we ran outside, had a snowball fight and made a snowman!
