We left Boise Monday around 11 to make the drive to where we were having a family reunion for my side. It was near Preston, Montpelier, and Bear Lake. I dunno, I just follow the GPS. We did get kind of lost. Not lost, per se. Just more of a "I hope we're going in the right direction." We stopped in Pocatello to call family and find out for sure if we were headed to the right place, but everyone was already there and no one had cell reception.
Anyway, about the point where we were thinking if we didn't find it within the next 20 minutes we would just go find a hotel we saw a very familiar car driving toward us. Hallelujah, it was my sister! She was going to the nearest town to see if she could call us. We followed her back to the camping site. We got there right in time for dinner. :)
Camping with my family was an awesome experience. The first night we did skits. We were told to try and come up with a skit about Amber (the youngest and only unmarried one of us left) and her dating experiences. I laughed so hard that my stomach was hurting. In the middle of the skits it started to rain. Everybody headed to bed right after.
Coming from Arkansas, we didn't have a lot of gear. We ended up borrowing blankets and sweatshirts and extra pants and jackets from my brothers and sisters. It rained all night long. The next day all 6 families that were in tents had just about all their gear out hanging up to dry. It was a sight to see.
We took a bunch of the kids on a hike. Played in a nearby creek. Cousins got along great and were off on adventures of their own. We played card games. Got in a water balloon fight. We had to bum food off of everybody else. And bug spray. And sunblock. And flashlights. And batteries. Luckily, our family loves us enough to not let us starve, get eaten to death, burned to bits or trip in the dark. :)
We spent a day at Bear Lake. We played Frisbee in the water. The kids built sand castles. My brother rented a jet ski and we all took turns going on rides. Eric loved it. Annaleise would have nothing to do with it. Big surprise there! Several of us got burned. But it was such a beautiful day! We topped it off with a stop at a nearby ice cream joint.
Jake brought a 4 wheeler. And my dad brought his go-kart. We all had fun taking turns on the toys and going for rides. Eric and Bri really loved the go-kart. We had to talk Annaleise into taking a short ride on it. Pedro and I took a ride on the 4-wheeler together. It was beautiful up there. We went for a ride right before sunset. The lighting was beautiful and the mountains! Oh, how I miss the mountains!
All in all, a great reunion. Kudos to Justin and Pam who planned the whole thing.
