Here's the highlights from our trip to Orlando over Christmas:
*On Christmas Eve Laura set up a tape recorder and asked her (and Pedro's) dad all sorts of questions about his childhood and adult life. Chris translated it into English. We're hoping to get a copy of the tape--hint hint, Laura.
*Seeing Annaleise's and Eric's eyes pop out of their sockets and their jaws hit the floor when they saw the Disney princesses and Mickey and friends
*Watching Annaleise bond with her abuelo
*Watching Annaleise and Eric play with their cousins
*Hearing Eric call out for his abuela when she went out of his sight--that didn't happen until the day she was leaving though
*Seeing Annaleise go on a roller coaster for the first time. I thought she'd come off crying but she loved it!
*Christmas Eve dinner!
*Trying to do Christmas the traditional Venezuelan way--have the kids open presents at midnight and play for a while, then go to bed--and it not working out. The only kids still awake at midnight were the 2 youngest and the oldest one.
*Seeing a group of Venezuelans talk together. They do it more with body language than actual vocal chords. Quite entertaining.
*Watching the dancing lights at Hollywood Studios
*14 of us went shopping on Christmas Eve and all of us stood in the lingerie department of JCPennys while the Spanish speaking adults tried to figure out what they were doing...um couldn't we talk in a different section?
*Getting a bag of Venezuelan candy for Christmas--yummy!
*Watching abuelo wait for everyone to leave so he could sneak off and grab himself some kind of treat without getting in trouble
